I recently ran an impromptu survey of notaries asking them to estimate the size of their network, including every person they’ve come to know in their life.
The most popular answer?
Most said they knew less than 100 people.
Over their entire lifetime!
Now, I understand that can probably be possible…for toddlers and introverts that have taken the extra step to live my dream life in a cave…on an island…on another planet, but for the rest of us notary entrepreneurs, it’s highly unlikely that you only know 100 people or less.
To prove it to you, I want to help you build your contact list. A contact list is a consolidated collection of every single person you know or have known your entire life.
Don’t start analyzing already! I see you.
Just make the list and analyze later. Trust me.
First, recognize the sheer magnitude of your contact list.
Here’s how you build your contact list:
If you want a free template Google Sheet, I made one for you and you can have it here, but PLEASE watch the video to show you how to use it too.
Then, start easy, with your phone contacts. If you have an iPhone, you may find your contacts here: https://www.icloud.com/contacts/.
If you have an Android, you may find your contacts here: https://contacts.google.com/.
For most of you, through this ONE exercise, you’re already over 100 just with that. Does that surprise you?
Again, stop analyzing and qualifying. It sounds like this: "Yeah, but I don't REALLY know them..." Just stop with that, for now.
You now have a list of MOSTLY warm, sometimes hot, leads for your business. See how this could come in handy when you “tell everyone” about your notary business…or your new apostille service…or your add-on fingerprinting…or, or, or?
But don’t stop there.
I believe you already know everyone you need to know to make as much money as you want.
Who else do you know?
Let’s go to Facebook.
You’ll find your Facebook friends here: https://www.facebook.com/friends/list (Be logged in to your Facebook account)
How about everyone who follows you on Instagram? You should find them here: https://www.instagram.com/YOURHANDLE/followers/. Copy and paste that URL, and change "YOURHANDLE" to your Instagram handle. You may have to click “Followers” as well.
On Twitter? (Sorry, it’s still Twitter to me…er, X?) You should find your followers here: https://x.com/YOURHANDLE/followers. Copy and paste that URL, and change "YOURHANDLE" to your X handle.
And, you absolutely can’t forget your Linkedin connections. You should find them all here: https://www.linkedin.com/mynetwork/invite-connect/connections/
PRO TIP from Alex Hormozi: As well as people who follow you, you can also reach out to anyone who has liked or commented on any of your social posts, so this greatly expands your network in and of itself.
Alright, keep going!
Let’s look at your email list now. Yep, you have one, I promise you. Even if you didn’t build it intentionally. How? Because you’ve emailed people before. You wouldn’t be here in my orbit if you didn’t, and you’d already be out of business anyway. So, I know you have a list.
Depending on the email service provider you have, these may be easier to identify than others, but start with your contact list (How-a-bout-that?).
If you use Gmail you should find your contacts here: https://contacts.google.com/other
Once you've identified all these people, I recommend creating an actual list of your contacts, a storehouse, where you can make notes, and track. It can be a spreadsheet, or whatever you want. It’s easier if you have a way to track your communication and remind yourself of what you last talked about (or didn’t).
Remember, I made a template for this and you can have it for FREE here.
How will you use this list?
Your network of contacts is the single most valuable asset you own. If you nurture it, constantly committed to bringing value to it, you can leverage it for everything you need now and in the future.
For our purposes as notary entrepreneurs, you can use it for telling EVERYONE about your new business or service offerings occasionally.
And, for those in my Morning Mastery program with High Performance Notary, you can use this list for your Ping 10, handwritten notes, or for the exercise where I suggest simply building your Contact List.
And one of the Daily Dos I recommend is seeking 3-5 people to add to this list EVERYDAY!
As you build your list, you may actually find prime candidates for your Fab 100 List too (That's your prospect list)!
You are surrounded by people who love and support you. You should ABSOLUTELY share your services with them.
They WANT you to succeed, and…
YOU are the best notary for them. You care about them. They’re more than just a dollar sign to you.
It’s a disservice to them if you do not to share your services with them.
Get to work! How big is your list, really?
These Daily Dos move you toward your annua revenue goal each day. If you want support and motivation to get there, you're invited to join me and other high perfromers in HPN- High Performance Notary. We meet each week to set our goals and dream what's possible.
