6 Practices of Integrity for Mobile Notaries and Loan Signing Agents

Sep 02, 2019

Hey everybody,

Bill here with NotaryCoach.com and the Sign and Thrive Notary Training Course and Community.

You know, recently I was having dinner with some friends and the topic of integrity came up. And as we made our way around the table talking about what integrity meant to us, it became very clear that everyone has a different opinion or definition of what integrity means. And that got me thinking because integrity is something really important to me. And I think to create a sustainable business as a mobile notary and loan signing agent that you can really be proud of, you must have integrity.

In fact, that's one of my four pillars to really building this business. I've talked about this before for in a couple of different blog articles:

  • You've got to have competence, right? You've got to know what you're doing.
  • You got to have confidence- you've got to be able to demonstrate your knowledge.
  • You have to have like-ability because people work with who they know, like and trust.
  • And then you have to have integrity.

But what does integrity mean?

So it's really clear that integrity means a lot of different things to different people. So I got to thinking and mapped out a six different practices that might help you on your path towards building your mobile notary and loan signing business, so you can get the clarity on exactly what integrity might mean in our business.

So here are the six practices of Integrity for a mobile notary and loan signing agent.

Do What You Said You'll Do

Number one, do what you said you're going to do. If you say you're going to be there at 7:00 PM be there on or before 7:00 PM and be ready to go. If you tell your client you're going to drop documents off at 10:00 AM the next morning, be there on there before 10:00 AM with the documents.

If you tell somebody you're going to call them back, call them back. Master the art of under-promising and over-delivering in your day to day business. This makes all the difference.

The other side of integrity is once you find out that you are not able to deliver on your promise, it is your responsibility to communicate and renegotiate those terms so you can stay in integrity. Everything can still be flexible. You just have to communicate with it.

Tell the Truth

The second practice is to tell the truth in all that you do. Give yourself, the peace of mind that comes with the truth. Be transparent and if you cannot be transparent, then don't do it or don't say it.

Think Before You Act

Number three, think before you act. And this is big for me. It's so important to have a higher vision for your life. You've got to have something that you can compare against so you know who you're trying to become and where you're at right now. So you can ask yourself, is this something a successful entrepreneur would do? Is this something a compassionate person would say to another person? Is this something a healthy person would eat? A powerful vision can transcend all areas of your life.

Own Your Mistakes

Number four is own your mistakes and drop everything and fix it. You know, loan signings are extremely stressful for everybody involved. When your client calls you to advise you of a mistake, they're not looking for a debate. They're looking for a solution. Take responsibility for being part of that solution and your business will change.

Treat Others With Respect

Number five, treat others with respect. This is a huge one guys. Not everyone is going to believe the same things that you believe. Not everyone's gonna feel exactly the same way you feel about all the things you feel stuff about, but you can still respect others without agreeing or approving of their choices. That's really hard for us to do sometimes to respect others, be courteous, do No harm, allow others to express themselves, even if we think it's unimportant or wrong, etc. Respect means believing that everyone is doing the best they can with what they've got. And that also means that we don't place ourselves above others or that we diminish ourselves for others.

Take Action

Finally, number six, the final practice of integrity for a loan signing agent and a mobile notary is to Take Action! You know the best way to create self confidence and build that integrity within yourself. It's to take action, move forward on your dream every single day. Never let the sunset without taking a step, no matter how small towards your dream every single day.

There's so much power in keeping those promises to ourself. You know having integrity with others is obviously super important, but having integrity with ourself is where the magic really starts to happen.

Guys, I hope you enjoy the rest of your Labor Day. I'll see you later on this week.
